The beguilingly-named Chilli Banana is a Thai restaurant and takeaway located in Liverpool’s well-heeled Lark Lane. If you can’t spare the time or cash to venture to Bangkok, this is about as close as you’re gonna get to authentic Thai dishes like Boo Pad Prik Thai On (tempura soft shell crab sti- fried with rice wine and green peppercorns), Pak Bung Fi Deang (water spinach stir-fried with yellow bean and chilli) and GaendPed Bet Yang (honey-roast duck in red curry). Whether you’re an old hand with a Thai menu, or you just wanna break from the culinary routine and dip your toe into the Land of Smiles, you’re sure to be impressed by what’s on offer. From rice and noodle dishes to soups, Thai salads and fresh fish (the sea bass steamed with lime juice, garlic and chilli is delicious), the cooking packs plenty of spice – just what you’d expect from a Chilli Banana! There’s even a Street Food menu for returning backpackers lusting after the sort of grub they first sampled on Khao San Road.

One of the few restaurants on Lark Lane to have stood the test of time, Chilli Banana is an excellent Thai restaurant serving a large selection of delicious food. I can't comments on how authentic is it, but I've always enjoyed what I've eaten there, and the restaurant's enduring popularity - it's always busy in there - is a testament to the quality of the food and service.
